Are the workhorses  of any modern medical institution or independent testing facility. They’re expected to process biological samples, of multiple types, in varying volumes with unpredictable demand variation flawlessly. We have worked with many laboratories assisting them with issues such as:

  1. Capacity management. With varying demand, how do you deploy resources effectively throughout the business day? How do you assure consistently hitting service level agreements for turn around time and quality? We have developed proprietary methodologies for managing capacity which have been tested extensively in the field.

  2. Demand Analysis. Managing capacity is only one side of the equation. Demand for your testing services varies daily, resulting in difficulties deploying capacity effectively, and reduced effectiveness in achieving operational metrics. We have adapted several industrial strength techniques to produce a suite of analytical tools which give real information on demand profiles.

  3. Quality Issues. In the heavily information rich modern laboratory environment, with humans processing that information it is inevitable that mistakes are made. We understand the root causes of the vast majority of quality issues present in any modern laboratory, and have trusted methodologies for both understanding and solving issues consistently.

  4. Personnel management. People working in the laboratory environment are typically highly structured intelligent and driven to excellence. How can you manage the issues of training, experience levels, qualifications, interpersonal relationships, personal and professional development and many others to achieve a harmonious yet smoothly functioning environment? We have adapted Toyota Production System principles with many other fields of management science to produce a systematic method of handling personnel in the new environment.
